Vital open space and home to two World Fairs
The former site of the 1939 and 1964-65 World's Fairs as well as early meeting site of the United Nations, the park continues as a gathering place and ethnic festival site for many nationalities who live in Queens.
History is beneath your feet and in the landscape around you. We need to preserve and conserve this open space as a resource. For historical information about Flushing Meadows, go to: www.nycgovparks.org, then click on Your Park, Historical Signs, and search for Flushing Meadows.
