This pier is down the street from my house, and yet, I never go there. Imagine if it were an inviting space for the community to gather? I like that it shows the industrial character of Greenpoint....this should not be lost. But it should be made more inviting and safe. If this space in not turned into a beautiful public space that is has potential to be, it will surely be captured by developers and turned into high rise condos. (November 2006)

A reminder of Greenpoint's industrial history, and a rallying point for residents in need of recreational space; a favorite fishing spot in spite of dilapidated condition.
