Historic department store
Macy's, which was originally founded in 1858 by Rowland H. Macy as a dry goods store in NYC, relocated to its present location at Herald Square in 1902. As one of the last turn-of-the-century department stores still in existence today, Macy's is a retail icon in NYC. In addition to having sponsored the annual Thanksgiving Day Parade since 1924, Macy's holiday windows continue to draw large numbers of Native New Yorkers as well as tourists from the U.S. and abroad.
