Nominations

I drank here for 20 years, and have been a bartender for the past seven. This place has both historic architecture and a community of patrons, mostly regulars who know each other.

This place feels timeless. There are few places anywhere (but there are several in NYC) that let you feel like you are stepping into the past; but not like you are visiting a museum exhibit, but instead as a place to be enjoyed today, in a manner that would be recognized by those who patronized this bar decades ago.

The physical details are essential. It matters that someone who sat at this bar 50 or more years ago, would recognize most of it today. (April 2009)
