Place Matters Profile

With its Yiddish Theater Hall of Fame sidewalk and its long history in the neighborhood, this classic New York deli is a community anchor. The Abe Lebewohl Park across Second Avenue is named in memory of the Deli's beloved proprietor who was murdered in 1995.

Second Avenue Deli unexpectedly went out of business in early 2006 and reopened at a new location on E. 33rd St.
