Site of an apparition of the Virgin Mary in 1945
Our Lady of the Grand Concourse is significant because it reflects the religious sensibility of an important segment of the Bronx community. Furthermore, it is an important link to an international Catholic phenomenon: appearances by the Holy Mother. Finally, the sight deserves inclusion in the inventory of Places that Matter because of the way the sight has changed since the original vision, and how its meaning has also changed, as different individuals have adopted it.
