Though no longer found on St. Mark's Place, this independent bookstore has been a neighborhood institution for several decades.

It provides a thoughtful and idiosyncratic selection of books, etc. Reminds us of what the East Village used to be and what still needs to be nourished here.

The building is hardly historic, but it is the spirit that counts. (May 2008)
