This memorial honors the nearly 300 Staten Island residents who were victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks. The memorial, Masayuki Sono's "Postcards," was chosen from nearly 200 submissions. The structures are said to resemble postcards, perhaps sent to their love ones. From far away they appear to be wings, or the leaves of a flower. Each victim is remembered with a plaque in their honor, shaped in their profile. The memorial was inaugurated on September 11, 2004, on the third anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

The Memorial remembers the nearly 300 Staten Island citizens who were killed at the World trade Center on September 11, 2001.

The Memorial, called "Postcards" and designed by Masayuki Sono, is beautiful and tells an important story about our community's relationship to the tragedy of September 11th. (February 2007)
