BAMcafé is housed in the former ballroom of the 1908 Brooklyn Academy of Music building. A soaring space with dramatic ceiling lighting and modern decor, the cafe showcases local musicians and spoken word artists on weekend nights and hosts a gospel brunch on Saturday. The cafe also offers a set-price menu for filmgoers at the BAM Rose Cinemas, a four-screen movie theater on the ground floor of the Academy.

It has a world-class reputation as an arts venue and is also host to many community-based programs including an annual tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the annual Dance Africa Bazaar in conjunction with the Dance Africa festival, and concert series in two local parks.

BAM and its café are part of the Brooklyn Academy of Music Historic District.

Modern loft like space with high ceilings and big brick walls, modern decor and a well lit stage. The cafe hosts concerts of interest, is a nice place to congregate because of easily accessible outside theater space, and is perfect for entertaining large groups of people.
