The BAMcafé, which is part of the Brooklyn Academy of Music complex, offers community members and visitors alike an informal gathering spot within a major cultural institution.

BAMcafé is housed in the former ballroom of the 1908 Brooklyn Academy of Music building. A soaring space with dramatic ceiling lighting and modern decor, the cafe showcases local musicians and spoken word artists on weekend nights and hosts a gospel brunch on Saturday. The cafe also offers a set-price menu for filmgoers at the BAM Rose Cinemas, a four-screen movie theater on the ground floor of the Academy.

The Brooklyn Academy of Music, generally referred to as BAM, has been in the Fort Greene community since 1908, when it moved to the neighborhood after its earlier 1852 building on Montague Street burned in 1903. Modern loft like space with high ceilings and big brick walls, modern decor and a well lit stage. The cafe hosts concerts of interest, is a nice place to congregate because of easily accessible outside theater space, and is perfect for entertaining large groups of people.
